Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra launch date delayed to next year

Posted on May 14, 2025

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the Marvel Comics WWII-set action adventure game starring Captain America and Black Panther, is getting a delay. Developer Skydance Games has announced that the title will no longer be coming out this year and will instead launch in 2026.

The announcement of the delay was made via a post on social media by Skydance Games. The studio confirms in the post that the reason behind the release date change is in order to “add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision.

First announced over a year ago at State of Unreal 2024, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will feature Steve Rogers as Captain America and Azzuri, the bearer of the Black Panther mantle in that era as they combat the Hydra organisation in occupied France. The game is being written and directed by former Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig. Despite multiple different playable characters, the game appears to be exclusively single-player, unlike Crystal Dynamics’ ill-fated Avengers game from 2020.

While it’s a shame that we will have to wait until 2026 to get our hands on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, a delay to ensure a polished release is rarely a bad idea. Particularly considering the infamously buggy launch of The Avengers (2020), ensuring this AAA Marvel game releases in supersoldier condition is probably advisable. We will have to wait for more info about the game, such as a narrower release window, in the coming months.
