MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls enters the arena as a new tag fighter

Sony’s June 2025 State of Play broadcast has concluded, closed out with the reveal of a new tag team fighting game, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls.

PlayStation Studios, Marvel Games, and Arc System Works (who have previously worked on fighting games such as Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ), have teamed up to deliver this 4v4 fighting game where players can fight with a variety of Marvel superheroes and supervillains, including Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Doctor Doom.

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls promises a fresh take on the Marvel fighting game universe, with “reimagined characters and stages, a heart-pounding soundtrack, intuitive gameplay mechanics, and jaw-dropping visuals.” Arc System Works has also stated that it aims to accommodate newcomers and veterans alike with this new entry into the fighting game genre, offering traditional fighting game inputs as well as simplified controls for performing actions.

Game Director and Lead Battle Designer, Kazuto Sekine, explains: “Since day one, our long-time and trusted collaborators at PlayStation and the team at Arc System Works have poured incredible amounts of talent and passion into reimagining the Marvel Universe in a way that only they can,” said Michael Francisco, Senior Product Development Manager, Marvel Games. “MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls demonstrates that they are absolute masters of their craft and are true Marvel fans at heart. Players are in for a wild ride.”

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is planning to launch for PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026.
