Put your friendships to the test in LEGO Party

Posted on June 7, 2025

The developers of the excellent Moving Out (and its sequel), have revealed their new title during Summer Games Fest, LEGO Party.

Combining LEGO and a classic party game becomes an obvious mix as soon as you see it. The trailer features loads of different LEGO styles from across the company’s storied history, and promises both challenge zones and 60 mini-games to compete in against your friends.

Based on the trailer, this looks like it won’t be reinventing the wheel in terms of structure. You’ll move around a board collecting golden bricks, playing minigames, and destroying your friendships with dastardly traps. But alongside solo and couch co-op, LEGO Party features online cross-play. Making this as widely available as possible is smart to give it space away from genre king Mario Party, which has dominated the space for a long time.

Local Aussie team SMG Studios sound like a perfect fit for this. Moving Out was consistently funny with very little dialogue, and inherently slapstick, which is the aim of any good party or LEGO game. If the trailer dialogue is any indication, we’ve got nothing to worry about.

LEGO Party will be available later this year on consoles and PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5,  PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
