Surgent Studios, the developer behind 2024’s Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, has teamed up with Palworld’s Pocketpair Publishing to reveal their next project titled Dead Take.
Dead Take is a first-person psychological horror game about exposing the corruption that runs rampant in the entertainment industry. In it, you play an actor in search of your friend in a dark and luxurious mansion owned by a powerful executive. All the while, “haunted by mysterious humanlike figures, you advance into the house by solving object-based puzzles and splicing together the video clips you find along the way.”
Per the Steam page, Dead Take will have the player “discover a side of the entertainment industry only discussed in whispers, full of cruelty and sordid gossip, memories of roles gone wrong, unsettling audition tapes and shadowy figures with the power to make or break your career.”
Abubakar Salim, the CEO of Surgent Studios and an actor in film, television, and video games, has stated in a press release that Dead Take’s story is shaped by his personal, real-world experiences within the industry. Going on to say that: “The subject matter of this game is delicate, and it hits close to home. When it comes out, and it won’t be long until it does, I want players to think, ‘I can’t believe they actually did this’.”
Dead Take is planning to release later this year on PC via Steam.
