Posted on July 11, 2025

Style your wigs, steam your gowns and grab your swords—the Australian leg of the Cosplay Central Crown Championship is fast approaching! Entries for the Australian qualifier have just officially opened, set to take place at PAX Aus this year. The competition will be held on Sunday, the 12th of October, on the PAX Aus Main Stage.

This isn’t just any cosplay competition. The successful champion crowned at PAX Aus will earn a coveted spot in the competition’s international finals at MCM London Comic Con next year, with their journey to London being fully covered. They’ll receive return flights, accommodation and two MCM London badges, plus two three-day badges to PAX Aus 2026.

This year’s judging panel brings together both international and local cosplay talent. Joining the panel is Anaelic, a Scottish cosplayer with over 12 years of cosplay experience and a recent third-place finish at this year’s Cosplay Central Crown Championship. Alongside her is this year’s first place winner, Henchwench, who is an Australian cosplayer with over two decades of expertise in design, armour and prop work. Rounding out the team of judges is Kayla Jean, well known for her pin-up-inspired cosplay designs and fabric skills.

As well as the competition, PAX Aus hosts three days of cosplay-friendly events. Con-goers can expect cosplay meet-ups, curated panels and the return of PAX’s cosplay lounge featuring repair stations, change rooms and cosplay photographers.

For those interested in competing in the championship, make sure you get your entry in before applications close on the 21st September 2025 at midday AEST. Full details are available on the PAX Aus website. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or new to the cosplay scene, this is your opportunity to showcase your skills, creativity and passion on a national, and potentially global, stage.

Tickets for PAX Aus itself are still available, with Saturday badges now 50% sold out.
