Surgent Studios and Pocketpair Publishing’s upcoming psychological horror game, Dead Take, has not only revealed more of its star-studded cast but also a release date in a hauntingly mesmerising new trailer.

Set in a luxurious but eerie Hollywood Hills mansion, Dead Take is a horror game about two actors vying for the same role. Casting the player as Chase Lowry (played by Neil Newbon) searching for his friend Vinny Monroe (played by Ben Starr), who has gone missing following a lavish party hosted by Hollywood elites. Navigating the halls of a mansion filled with clandestine secrets and solving escape-room-like puzzles, players will splice together live-action videos from auditions and meetings behind closed doors to uncover the dark secrets buried behind the entertainment industry.

Alongside the protagonists played by Newbone and Starr, the game’s cast will also include the talent of Jane Perry (Baldur’s Gate III, Returnal) and Australia’s very own Alanah Pearce (V/H/S/Beyond, Dispatch). While also featuring cameo appearances from Connor ‘CDawgVA’ Colquhoun (Honkai: Star Rail), Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part II), Matthew Mercer (Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth), Sam Lake (Alan Wake II), and Travis Willingham (Marvel Rivals).

Abubakar Salim, Creative Director for Dead Take, said that “Dead Take is about actors. So we needed actors who’ve lived it. It’s a game about the height of ambition and the rot underneath it. The lies we tell ourselves to get in the spotlight, and the monsters we become to stay there. Everyone in this cast has felt that pressure. This was a chance to bleed it out.”

In addition to the cast reveal, the developers have settled on a release date for July 31, 2025, on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
