Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have announced they’ve begun development on the first-ever Hellraiser game, Hellraiser: Revival. This is said to be a single-player, survival horror action game, putting players up against Pinhead himself.
Both Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have ample experience with games based on pre-existing horror franchises, such as Evil Dead: The Game, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, and many more. Even more exciting to fans of the franchise is the return of Doug Bradley as Pinhead, which marks a return to the role nearly 20 years in the making.
The official blurb reads, “Discover the tale of Aidan, who must unlock the dark powers of the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box, to help his girlfriend from a hellish abyss. As Aidan, you’ll harness the box’s infernal abilities to survive your pact with the sinister Pinhead and battle against the twisted cult that worships him and the Cenobites. Fail, and your suffering will be legendary, even in Hell. We have such sights to show you…”
Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer at Sabre Interactive stated that they’ve been “greatly privileged to consult with Clive Barker himself to make sure this new chapter in the Hellraiser storyline is authentic to the vision of his iconic Hellraiser films”, which sounds like great news for fans of the franchise as well as players who just want a great horror experience. He also states, “Hellraiser stands as one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time, and we fully understand the legacy we’re stepping into. From the very start, we’ve committed to holding nothing back, ‘ which sounds like horror fans will truly be in for a treat.
Though Pinhead has made an appearance in video game media before, popping up in Dead by Daylight back in 2021, it will be very exciting to see him properly take the stage in this fully fleshed-out game set within the Hellraiser universe.
As of yet, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival has no release date, but is available to wishlist now via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with more news about its development to come throughout the year.
