The Little Nightmares showcase was a little dream for fans!

Posted on July 3, 2025

A week ago, fans of the Little Nightmares franchise were treated to a 40 minute long showcase on the BANDAI NAMCO Europe Youtube channel. It featured a lot of exciting news including information about Little Nightmares III, the release of a comic book, a teaser for a VR game, and the possible return of a long forgotten project. Let me take you through a recap of all the announcements, and show you why this might just be the best time to be a Little Nightmares fan.

One of the first and most major pieces of information we were given was the official release date of Little Nightmares III, alongside a new trailer. The trailer gave us a look at The Carnival level, and we were also treated to a ten minute long gameplay video. The gameplay looks great, and as always the environments look excitingly unsettling. Little Nightmares III is set for release on October 10th later this year, and I for one am very excited to jump back into the world, especially  being able to play in co-op.

The exciting news continued further with the announcement of a season two of the audio fiction podcast, The Sounds Of Nightmares. This audio story follows Noone, a young girl committed to The Counties Psychiatric Institute due to an ever-worsening nightmare disorder. Placed under the care of The Counsellor who has dedicated his life to helping kids overcome their traumas, their sessions uncover a connection between Noone’s nightmares and The Councellor’s past. It’s incredibly exciting to hear that this story is continuing, but that’s not the only other media we’re getting outside of the games.

Little Nightmares: Descent To Nowhere is an upcoming comic book series, which will be featuring fan favourite character Mono, the protagonist from Little Nightmares II, as a part of the story. The comic will tell two parallel narratives, one in The Counties and one in The Nowhere. The Nowhere story will follow a timid mute girl named Hush, who will meet and work together with Mono to escape the cold dungeon they find themselves in. The Counties story follows a detective named Myra, exhausted with life who has a chance encounter with a stranger who stirs something more inside of her, sparking a decision to look into the cold cases of missing children over the years. The first issue of the comic will be available in October, with preorders available from August. There will be four comics in total, with a release of one per month.

But that’s not the end! Even more external media is coming, with the release of a Young Adult horror novel set in The Nowhere following the story of a young girl named Ruse. She wakes up in The Carnival in a dark room with two other kids she’s never met before, one of which is a girl with an noose around her neck and the other a frail boy with a mask. Will Ruse be able to get out of this situation, and will these two kids be her friends or foes? The book is set to release in September.

Last but not least in the list of all the mixed media elements was a stop motion teaser trailer for… something unconfirmed. Fans are speculating this might be the resurgence of the Little Nightmares show announced back in 2017, which never got any further than the initial announcement due to unknown complications. While we were given basically no more information than this teaser, it’s still very exciting to know there’s much more to expect from the franchise.

Back to the games and the final two announcements of the presentation. The Enhanced Edition of the first Little Nightmares game will be releasing on PS5, Xbox X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, at the same time as the release of Little Nightmares III. There is also a VR game in the works, which is still in early stages of development. What a jam packed showcase that was! It’s shaping up to be a great year for Little Nightmares fans both new and old, and I am very excited for all the extra media coming our way.
