Gorillaz (yes, the band) join Fortnite Festival for Season 10

Posted on August 27, 2025

The world’s biggest virtual band has found a new stage. Gorillaz, the genre-bending, animated group created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, are officially crossing over into Fortnite. They will make their debut in Fortnite Festival Season 10 on 26 August.

Since their debut in 2001, Gorillaz have been known for their colourful cast of characters including 2D, Noodle, Russel Hobbs, and Murdoc Niccals. Their sound blends hip-hop, electronica, punk, and pop. With their surreal, animated backstory and larger-than-life personas, they’ve always existed somewhere between music, art, and animated culture.

That’s why their arrival in Fortnite feels like such a natural fit. Epic’s ever-expanding metaverse and Gorillaz’ vibrant aesthetic slide right into Fortnite’s colourful world like they were made for it. From Plastic Beach to Tilted Towers, it’s hard to imagine a better pairing.

For Season 10, players can catch the full Gorillaz lineup on Fortnite Festival’s brand-new Main Stage, a graffiti-streaked cityscape complete with towering buildings and a train running through it. Jam Tracks include fan favourites like Clint Eastwood, DARE, and On Melancholy Hill, bringing iconic Gorillaz anthems into the rhythm-based Festival gameplay.

Character bundles will also let players bring Noodle and 2D into Battle Royale, with themed outfits, back bling, and emotes (yes, you can finally dance to DARE in Fortnite). Russel Hobbs and Murdoc Niccals will be unlockable through the Season 10 Music Pass, with more cosmetics and rewards tied to the band’s legacy.

Gorillaz in Fortnite

The announcement has already sparked excitement across both music and gaming communities. For fans, it’s another sign of how Gorillaz continue to reinvent themselves nearly 25 years after their debut. For Fortnite players, it’s a chance to embody one of the most iconic acts of the 2000s.

Much like past collaborations with Billie Eilish, Star Wars, Ariana Grande, and Aussie Kid LAROI, Gorillaz in Fortnite is more than just a skin drop. Fortnite is turning this into an event that merges two pop culture juggernauts.
