As theorised by the entire internet (including us) earlier this week, Helldivers 2 has officially announced a crossover with Halo. Launching the same day as the game on Xbox, the Helldivers 2 X Halo ODST warbond features a lot more than was initially expected. After the earlier tease, it is great to finally see what we’re getting our hands on.
As announced on Xbox Wire, in Helldivers, ODST doesn’t stand for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. Instead, meet the Obedient Democracy Support Trooper outfit and their weaponry straight out of the Halo series. Sadly, no Covenant have made the jump over to Helldivers, although that might be slightly harder for them to justify within their lore.
The ODST warbond also introduces us to a new tier of Helldivers microtransactions as the debut legendary warbond. Priced at 1,500 ‘Super Credits’ (the Helldivers 2 microtransaction currency), it is 500 SC more expensive than the standard warbonds. Given that Arrowhead received heat for the price and availability of the Killzone crossover, this price seems to be a reaction to that.
Regardless, as a lapsed Helldiver and recovering Halo fan, this might just be the thing to get me back onto the galactic front.
