Tales of Xillia is the next classic to get remastered

Posted on August 20, 2025

After much anticipation and speculation, Bandai Namco Entertainment has finally revealed the next entry in its Tales Remastered Project, following the success of Tales of Graces f Remastered: Tales of Xillia Remastered.

Tales of Xillia was released in Japan in 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and overseas in 2013. It is the first title in the iconic Tales series to offer players two protagonists to choose from: Jude Mathis, a young medical student, or Milla Maxwell, a mysterious woman known as the Lord of Spirits, a choice that significantly changes your point of view of events throughout the game.

Set in the world of Rieze Maxia, where humans and spirits coexist, war looms around the corner when Jude and Milla discover a dangerous weapon, the Lance of Kresnik, which holds the power to destroy spirits. Putting aside their differences, they must team up if they wish to see peace between their two worlds. Tales of Xillia features many of the series’ staples: a diverse group of lovable characters, skits, and a version of the linear motion battle system called the double-raid linear motion battle system. In this real-time combat system, players link two characters together to perform combos, chain abilities, and attack using powerful dual-character linked artes.

Just like the previous entry in the Tales Remastered Project, Tales of Xillia Remastered will come with various quality-of-life improvements and visual enhancements to bring the PS3 classic to modern hardware. Including an auto-save feature, the ability to toggle enemy encounters, access to the Grade Shop early on, destination icons, and more.

Embark on a magnificent quest to save the world when Tales of Xillia Remastered releases on 31 October 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
