Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will refund PlayStation preorders after DLC backlash

Posted on September 7, 2025

Last week, we learned that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 would be revamping (no pun intended) the content included in its preorder editions following some negative feedback. Its official social media has now announced that it will be issuing refunds to anyone who preordered the game’s premium edition on the PS Store, saying that they “want to do this right”. According to a community manager for Bloodlines 2, we can expect to receive more details about the new editions on September 17th. It’s not clear if refunds are to be expected for Steam or Xbox preorders. This is the second time preorders for Bloodlines 2 have been refunded.

If you missed it, last month Paradox Interactive revealed the release date for the long-awaited Bloodlines 2 as well as the planned pricing for three different preorder editions. Here’s a rundown of what Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 might cost you (in AUD): $84.95 for the Standard Edition, $99.95 for the Deluxe Edition, which includes the DLC Santa Monica Memories, and finally the Premium Edition at $129.95, which includes both Santa Monica Memories and the DLC Blood and Silk. The existence of additional paid content on launch, always a contentious topic amongst consumers, wasn’t received well, particularly because of two clans, Toreador and Lasombra, that were locked behind the Blood and Silk DLC. Clans work as a sort of class for your character, effectively shaping what kind of vampire you can be and what abilities you can learn. It is important to the game’s story too, as the clans are woven into the lore. Given that the four clans available to choose from in the Standard Edition of Bloodlines 2 is fewer than what was offered by the original Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, it’s easy to understand why fans were displeased with what many saw as gating important content off at launch.

According to the community manager, Paradox is listening to the feedback and is making changes to the preorder editions. Anyone who pre-ordered the Premium Edition through the PlayStation Store will be contacted and refunded starting Monday 8th September. Come September 17th, we should have more details about the new editions and what they will include, and preorders can be purchased again sometime before the game launches on all platforms on October 21st 2025.
