Checkpoint Intimates: The Twitch Conversation

Listen to the show!

Checkpoint Intimates is a weekly podcast where two members of the team go one-on-one on a topic that they both feel strongly about, talking in a more deeper and, yes, intimate context. This week, Elliot and Cam are on board to talk about Twitch integration with video games. Twitch has been growing and growing as a service for people to log on and watch other people play their favourite video games, and the platform has become so successful that it is now being integrated directly into franchises to enhance them beyond the regular scope of gaming. They talk about games that are built with a streaming audience in mind, games that feature a mode where Twitch audiences can vote or impact on the streamers gameplay experience and games designed entirely around the idea of Twitch integration and are dependent on it. Why are games built this way? How does it help with marketing? And what are the potential downsides?
