Checkpoint Intimates: The Left 4 Dead Clone Conversation

Listen to the show!

Checkpoint Intimates is a weekly podcast where two members of the team go one-on-one on a topic that they both feel strongly about, talking in a more deeper and, yes, intimate context. This week, Cam and Jason discussed the games which really are “inspired” by Left 4 Dead and what that game did as a genre, and have put their own unique spin on things. With Valve no longer focusing on games will we ever see a Left 4 Dead 3? With the answer looking uncertain this opening in the market means plenty of other games are trying to strike gold with their own take on the fan favourite co-op game. We chat about why 4 player co-op in mission based gameplay is so much fun that it has started to become it’s own genre and why some games have hit the nail on the head while others feel like cheap knockoffs. Some of the games we discuss are Warhammer Vermintide 2, Earthfall, PayDay, Strange Brigade and more!
