Game Jams — An industry event we need to preserve

Posted on October 4, 2018

Listen to the show!

This week on the show, we talk about the ongoing craze of Game Jams! But what is a Game Jam? Usually taking place across a couple of days developers, artists and many others from the video game industry get together and let their hair down. With a theme, quite often an abstract one, groups are formed and get inventive piecing together a new game, sometimes even creating a bizarre smash hit. Join Elliot, Cam, Sav and Rach as they break down what to expect from these types of events. Sav gives us the inside scoop of some of the Game Jams he’s taken part in while the rest of the team think over how important these events are for allowing creativity to blossom outside of industry expectations. The team also have a look at some games that went from Game Jams into the world for all of us to enjoy and what effect they’ve had on the gaming as a whole. Rachel has also been putting some sports points up on the sports board in ‘the beautiful game’ with her review of FIFA 19! Don’t miss any of the action and don’t forget to check out the first half of this podcast to keep up to date!
