Intimates: The Looter Shooter Breakdown

Listen to the show!

Checkpoint Intimates is a weekly podcast where two members of the team go one-on-one on a topic that they both feel strongly about, talking in a more deeper and, yes, intimate context. This week, Elliot and Luke provide a breakdown of the infant genre, the looter shooter. With a few releasing each year and a pretty dedicated fan base for each series, where are they at and where do they need to go? Elliot breaks down his disappointment with Anthem and how good mechanics were wasted on a genre that couldn’t fully embrace what made the game unique. They look at the success and the failures of Bungie’s Destiny and Luke makes a plea for fans not to write off Division 2 after a few hurdles in the looter shooter genre releasing ahead of it.
