Into the Breach is Subset Games’ follow-up to FTL: Faster Than Light, the beloved space rouge-like from 2012 and one of my favorite games ever.
The team announced Into the Breach with the trailer above, which shows off the games’ turn-based, strategy gameplay. You control giant mechs akin to those from movies like Pacific Rim, and use them to battle an alien threat on a tile-based map. Similar to FTL, Into the Breach features a procedurally generated component to the gameplay which means you will never truly know what’s coming next.
The game will also have you protecting civilian buildings (which actually power your mech), finding unique mech pilots and more powerful weapons, and sending help back through time when the mission outcome isn’t looking too positive.
A Steam page is live, but no release date has been given as of yet. Into the Breach is slated for release on PC, Mac, and Linux devices.
