Tokyo RPG Factory have revealed the second project they are working on, Lost Sphear, due out early 2018 for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Lost Sphear begins in a remote town where a young boy, Kanata, awakens from a devastating dream to find his hometown disappearing. To stop this, Kanata and his friends set out to rebuild the world “with the power of Memory by manifesting thoughts into matter.”
With I Am Setsuna proving to be a relative success, Lost Sphear is set to expand upon this with an enhanced gameplay system and revamped ATB battle system. The influences are very clear, looking at the trailer; the art style, form of storytelling and world exploration all feels very familiar. Tokyo RPG Factory are definitely carving their own niche within the JRPG space.
We reviewed I Am Setsuna when it released last year, and despite some small flaws, had mostly positive things to say: “This game masterfully brings together unique and nostalgic elements into a really solid JRPG experience: it just doesn’t give itself enough time for that to play out to full potential. That said, Setsuna is a real success for the Tokyo RPG Factory, and is sure to delight any JRPG fan.”
