In the latest trailer released during Disney’s D23 over the weekend, we witnessed the unveiling of a new world and partnership between Pixar and Square. Along with this news came a hidden clue to the new party system coming to Kingdom Hearts III.
During the 2017 E3 conferences, we saw a glimpse of this new system with a 4 player party that included Hercules in the fight along with Donald and Goofy. This raised our suspicion of a bigger party, but now after the D23 showcase event we have some official confirmation from Tetsuya Nomura, the creator of the series.
“We’re able to depict multiple characters,” Nomura told IGN during D23. “We saw a team of five during the Toy Story world’s premiere trailer.”
If there was to be any cap on the party size, Nomura did not say, but with an increased number of participants in fights a limit would have to be implemented for the sake of the game. This system thankfully takes away the frustration of choosing between new members at every world, which would also limit the drive-ability as they required either Donald and Goofy in the active party to use.
We are excited to see just how far this new system will be pushed in more updates or in the eventual 2018 release on Xbox One and Playstation 4.
