Namco Museum brings retro games to the Switch this month

Posted on July 2, 2017

With Retro gaming becoming a bit of a trend lately, Namco have announced that their first title for the Nintendo Switch will be a selection of old-school games under the title Namco Museum.

The previously announced collection will include 10 classic Namco games including the Gamecube classic, Pacman VS, and should be a welcome entry to the Nintendo Switch’s growing library of games. Check out the trailer!

Although one could argue a port of say… Tekken… or even a collection of LESS retro games would have been welcome; history has shown us that Namco prefer to develop their big games for Sony consoles, with Nintendo owners generally left to receive the odd collection such as this.

However in this case, it is not necessarily a negative. The simplicity of retro video games such as these do play very well on the move, they should suit the interface of the Nintendo Switch perfectly.

When the collection launches the following games will be included

    • PAC-MAN VS.
    • PAC-MAN
    • Dig Dug
    • Galaga
    • Galaga ‘88
    • The Tower of Druaga
    • Rolling Thunder
    • Rolling Thunder 2
    • SkyKid
    • Splatterhouse
    • Tank Force

PAC-MAN VS as part of the Namco Museum

Aside from the standard Namco Museum lineup there are a couple of treats for prospective buyers. Treats such as PAC-MAN VS, which is a multiplayer take on PAC MAN and was originally released on the Gamecube in 2003. This game allows a player to be PAC-MAN whilst friends control the ghosts!  Additionally, Rolling Thunder 2 and Splatterhouse are exclusives for this collection.

The set releases on July 28th
