BRINK goes free-to-play 6 years after release

Posted on August 25, 2017

Do you remember BRINK? The class-based, multiplayer shooter released way back in 2011 and it initially excited players with what seemed like a really interesting movement system. That excitement didn’t last long however and the game was met with a fair amount of disappointment on release. Since then the player-base for BRINK plummeted pretty drastically and it mostly disappeared from the collective consciousness. That is until now.

The 6 year old game has just been re-released as a free-to-play title on Steam. Going the way of games like Evolve and Battleborn who both also went the free-to-play route after their player-base plummeted to uncomfortably low levels. Whether this change of financial model will help keep the game alive or whether it’s a case of too little too late is yet to be seen. But for those who want to give BRINK a whirl, you can grab it free on Steam here.
