Funcom’s 2012 conspiracy-themed MMO (massive multiplayer online game), The Secret World, was rebooted recently as Secret World Legends. Funcom has now followed up this re-release with the announcement that an all new TV series will be releasing based on the game’s universe.
Following the general premise of the game, The Secret World TV show will follow an elite squad of undercover agents caught in a war between three secret societies (Templars, Dragons and the Illunimati) and the horrifying Lovecraftian monsters that have crossed over from different dimensions.
The plot of the show “incorporates the realms of ancient myths and legends as well as today’s conspiracy theories and headline news”, reads a press release.
The show is being produced by Johnny Depp and Christi Dembrowski’s production company Infinitum Nihil. Hopefully this means we may see a quality video game adaption, maybe.
Unfortunately there is no news about what service will be required to view the show or when it can be expected as of yet.
