Mega Man returns with a new game and blasts into Monster Hunter Worlds

Posted on December 11, 2017

Capcom have been busy little beavers lately. Alongside the announcement of the new Devil May Cry HD collection, they also found time to announce Mega Man 11 will be coming to major consoles in 2018, drop a new trailer for the upcoming Monster Hunter Worlds (found further down) AND now the news that MegaMan will make an appearance in Monster Hunter Worlds.

Mega Man is now in his 30th anniversary year so what better time to return to active duty with Mega Man 11. Credited with pioneering level select in his earlier games, Mega Man has been present on pretty much every major console (six times on the NES) since his debut all the way back in 1987. His last outing was a very retro affair in 2010. The newly announced game blasts him into the future with colourful 3D graphics whilst still retaining the classic side scrolling gameplay of the series.

Monster Hunter Worlds is highly anticipated and is due for release in January 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One. Interestingly, in Japan it is PS4 only. Monster Hunter is a phenomenon is Japan, a country where hand-held gaming is king. Although a PS2 title, it has never achieved what could be considered a huge success in the west. But the trailer is looking great, maybe it is about time for a breakthrough.

And finally yes, right at the end of the new Monster Hunter Worlds trailer marks the appearance of Mega Man. It will feature classic tunes and weapons to celebrate his 30th anniversary. Coupled with the announcement of a cross-over between Monster Hunter and Horizon Zero Dawn for PS4 earlier this year, Capcom are clearly doing all they can to ensure Monster Hunter World makes a splash.

So, a new Devil May Cry compilation, Mega Man 11 and a new cross over announced for Monster Hunter Worlds means that 2018 will be a bumper year for Capcom and gamers will be spoiled for choice.
