Dissidia Final Fantasy NT announces Vayne Solidor as latest DLC fighter!

Posted on March 15, 2018

In a move I’m sure very few fans saw coming, Square Enix has recently revealed their first DLC character for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT – Vayne Carudas Solidor! An entirely new entrant to the Dissidia universe, Vayne is the main antagonist of Final Fantasy XII and  rightly so given his misdeeds within the game including, but not limited to, the murder of his father, older brothers, and the invasion of Dalmasca. The trailer released showcases Vayne’s ruthless battle style and I can’t wait to give him a go!

Upon first learning of Vayne’s inclusing into Dissidia, I’ll admit it was a bit hesitant to believe he’d be any good, since players only fight him right at the end of FFXII. However after seeing the trailer my doubts were assuaged and I was left with little doubt he’d be a tough opponent to take on. Vayne’s battle style seems to be that of a close range fighter, similar to that of Jecht from Final Fantasy X, except Vayne also possesses a few mid range attacks that allow him to fight from a distance also. He will also be able to use his EX mode to transform into a more powerful form for extra speed and damage.

With Final Fantasy XII’s remake, The Zodiac Age, having come out less than a year ago, it would make sense that Square Enix would make use of its revival to bolster a completely new fighter to the series. Gamers eager to try out Vayne will not have to wait too long for his arrival as the update in late April will see him launch onto the battle field alongside his other Final Fantasy antagonists. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is available now to play exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
