… Interesting. GameMill Entertainment has announced Nickelodeon Kart Racers – a brand new racing game featuring a large cast from beloved Nickelodeon titles such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rugrats, and Hey Arnold!. It will be developed by Bamtang and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
It features 24 different tracks from across the titles, which so far has been confirmed to include Bikini Bottom, New York City’s sewers, Tommy Pickles’ house, and Arnold’s school. GameMill’s announcement also says the tracks will be “slime-themed” which will certainly give the game that iconic Nickelodeon flare. What exactly ‘slime-themed’ means, we’ll just have to find out.
It’s easy to see a lot of influences here. Similar to Mario Kart 8, Nickelodeon Kart Racers’ cars will be customisable. ‘Slime overload’ will turn your kart into a jetski as well, reminding me very much of Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed. And of course, co-op and local multiplayer modes will be available as well as power-up and special attacks.
The screenshots that have been released so far only contain characters from 4 of the 12 shows the game will feature – what other characters will we get to play as? Nickelodeon has no shortage of great shows to choose from, like Avatar: the Last Airbender, Fairly Odd Parents, and Danny Phantom. I would love to see some often forgotten shows too, like Jimmy Neutron or CatDog. Let us know which characters and levels you’d like to see in the comments below.
The game’s release date is set at October 23.
