This isn’t time for no skeleton crew… It’s all hands on deck for the upcoming release of the Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails update!
Making sure to leave no sailor stranded at sea for too long, Rare have made good on their tease of upcoming Sea of Thieves content updates at last month’s E3. As part of Rare’s ongoing commitment to its ‘son of a biscuit eating’ pirate community, Cursed Sails will bring new content and in theory be the biggest free update yet for those who own the game or access it through the Xbox Game Pass.
The Cursed Sails update will see players battle terrifying new AI manned skeleton ships in the already treacherous waters of Sea of Thieves. Set sail in the new three-player Brigantine ship and form alliances with other players to take on bigger challenges and share greater rewards.
Introduced into the game through a special time-limited campaign, Cursed Sails offers up players a range of unique booty for the discerning pirate to collect. Starting July 31st, the three week long campaign will see AI commanded skeleton ships sailing the seas and terrorise outposts, ready to put cutlass to any pirate willing to do battle with them. So its best to be wary less you want to feed the fish! As an added bonus there’s also a story driven side quest available for willing pirates to set sail on which will allow players to investigate the source of this skeleton scourge.
The full details of the upcoming Cursed Sails update can be found over in this Xbox Wire blog post or at the Sea of Thieves website. And fear not, if like me you often find yourself with too many maps on your navigation table to set out on this new journey right away then the good folk at Rare have you covered. All of the features introduced with this time-limited campaign will remain in the Sea of Thieves world for everyone to see and experience. So I’ll see you all you hornswagglers July 31st when it’s all hands on deck!
