HumaNature Studios have recently announced a statement regarding the release of their upcoming action rogue-like game, ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove. As well as their separation from Adult Swim Games who, up until recently, were to be the publisher of the game’s release.
According to Greg Johnson, founder of HumaNation Studios and one of the original creators of ToeJam and Earl, their upcoming project Back in the Groove is set for a fall release (which is spring for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere). Johnson went on to say “We will be making a specific release plan announcement in regards to dates as soon as we have that nailed down.”
On top of this, Johnson was open about the separation from Adult Swim stating “Going forward Adult Swim Games is no longer going to be our publisher. Instead we are going back to self-publishing! Adult Swim Games has some other big titles they plan to launch this summer so when Back in the Groove pushed back, we both agreed that it made sense for them to hand us the reigns, rather than taking a chance on this getting pushed back any more. Also I’d like to say how deeply grateful I and all of us here at HNS are to Adult Swim Games. We wouldn’t have gotten this game to this point without them…seriously. Thank You Adult Swim!!”.
For those who backed ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove on Kickstarter, they’ll be granted an opportunity to play a closed-beta version of the game. HumaNature Studios are currently in the process of submitting the game for certification with Nintendo and are sure the other console versions are not far behind either. With the game coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch, fans of this classic series can once again play as these two funky fresh space dudes!
