With high definition graphics and the demand for things to look bigger and better ever increasing so is the install size of our most anticipated games of the year. So is it really any surprise to hear that Red Dead Redemption 2 will require a massive day one install that could see you not playing the game at all until the wee hours of day two?
The hype for Red Dead Redemption has been fairly steady so it wasn’t a surprise to see Sony announce a PS4 Pro bundle for Red Dead Redemption 2, the bundle simply enough contains a basic black PS4 Pro with a copy of the game. However the true surprise was located on the back of the bundle box in an image which was first spotted on U.S. retailer Target’s website and has been doing the rounds today for a particularly interesting reason however. That reason is that the day one update is in the triple figures being “105gb Minimum” of free space required for you to even think about playing.
But unlike reading a box of Bran Flakes it wasn’t all bad news, also written on the back of the box in the fine print was that “Red Dead Online” will support between 2 and 32 players. It’s worth noting however that, according to the box “select online content” will be exclusive to PS4 for 30 days.
Whilst file sizes do tend to differ from console to console our bet here at Checkpoint is that XboxOne owners should brace themselves for a similar expectation on day one and we tip our hats to anyone who may have ordered the game digitally.
