Ubisoft have seemingly dropped the yarn and let it roll out, with a new Far Cry title leaking just ahead of The Game Awards. Far Cry New Dawn, a post-apocalyptic entry in the long-running franchise, has got a trailer and box art revealed via the very reliable Wario64 on Twitter. Check both out below.
The end of the trailer reveals that the official, worldwide reveal will take place at The Game Awards later today (11:30am AEST, 7th December).
The move to release a spin-off or non-numbered entry makes sense for Ubisoft and the Far Cry series, with Far Cry 3 having Blood Dragon, and Far Cry 4 having Primal as off-year side games. From the look of things, Far Cry New Dawn may follow closely behind the story of Far Cry 5… those of you who have finished the game will know what I mean.
We can only speculate as to when the game may come out. I am hoping for an early 2019 release; with Season Pass content of Far Cry 5 wrapping up a few months ago I am itching to get back among the carnage of Far Cry.
I reviewed Far Cry 5 and called it “A picturesque, explosive adventure”. Check it out here, and stay tuned for more news regarding Far Cry New Dawn as The Game Awards kick off today.
