Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot announces Cell Saga. Ascend beyond your limits!

Posted on August 30, 2019

It’s an understatement to say I am a big fan of the Dragon Ball series. Indeed there’s very few gaming iterations I have not at least played once. Come early 2020, I’ll be eagerly awaiting Bandai Namco’s latest Dragon Ball RPG project; Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. That excitement has been raised even higher thanks to the latest Gamescom trailer, revealing the popular Cell Saga Arc as a playable part of the game’s story, along with a slew of other small additional announcements.

Fans of the series can expect some amazing fight sequences to unfold as the Cell Saga had a number of iconic match-ups, culminating in the final battle between Perfect Cell and Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. On top of this awesome news, it has been confirmed that Trunks, Super Saiyan warrior from the future, will be a playable character as well. Bandai Namco, as an added treat, also released a new gameplay demo featuring the battle between Gohan and Cell.

If this wasn’t enough to excite you, there has also been the announcement of additional side quests including a completely new story focusing on Android 16, whose origins are mostly shrouded in mystery. Fans of the series will also be excited to learn that an all new Akira Toriyama character, former member of the Ginyu Force Bonyu, will be included in the Cell Saga game chapter. She originates from the same planet as Ginyu Force member Jeice, and her in-game story will reveal the history of this camp troupe.

There’s just way too much to get excited for in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, with the inclusion of new characters, additional back story, and of course mind blowing battles. Coming in early 2020 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, this ambitious RPG is one game I’ll be ready to play on day one of its release. What’s even more exciting is that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot may still not be done with the content announcements, with another major story arc, the Buu Saga, still to be announced – if it even will be.
