Since its release on September 20th to Switch and PC via the Epic Game Store, Untitled Goose Game has been doing very well for itself. The Melbourne developed game has been getting a lot of attention and a lot of love, so much so that it has even dethroned The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening in the top spot of the Switch best seller charts across many different regions including Australia and the US.
To see a locally made indie game get this much love is genuinely heartwarming.
The last couple of days have been overwhelming and incredible. It was a very strange feeling waking up yesterday to see our game at #1 in Australia on Nintendo’s charts.

With that success it appears as though developer House House wants to keep the goose honking and expand the game’s availability before turning their attention to another project. In an interview with the ABC, the small development team discuss the success of the game, how it all came about, and what their plans are for the future.
According to the interview, the game has sold very well for the team. And whilst specific numbers weren’t mentioned, there’s an obvious sense of monetary comfort and confidence for the future. Developer Nico Disseldorp stated that “we can go on and keep making video games as long as we like now”.
The other exciting bit of information is that the team plans to reach a wider audience by releasing the game on Xbox One and PS4 in the future. Even a mobile version is possible.
It’s fantastic to see Untitled Goose Game get such deserved success. The game is unbelievable charming, funny, and endearing. In fact, our very own review described the game as a “honking masterpiece”.
