Monthly “Xbox 20/20” update set to showcase next gen plans

Posted on May 6, 2020

Xbox news platform Xbox Wire have announced an monthly initiative showcasing upcoming developments in PC, Xbox Series X, and Project xCloud, as well as Xbox Game Studios and Game Pass. Starting on May 7th, the first episode of “Xbox 20/20” will feature trailers from upcoming releases and teasers of next-gen hardware.

CVP of Gaming Marketing Jerret West announced the initiative in a blog post on Xbox Wire last night. He begins by highlighting the challenges faced by Xbox employees and consumers during COVID-19. Several commitments are then renewed for 2020, including:

  • Releasing Halo Infinite and Xbox Series X by Christmas
  • Supporting Xbox Game Pass for PC with major releases such as Halo Infinite and Minecraft Dungeons
  • Expanding Project xCloud into new regions, with Game Pass integration

The first episode of Xbox 20/20 promises next-gen gameplay footage, and trailers for upcoming games such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The new Smart Delivery feature will also be explored in-depth, confirming which games will take advantage of it. These cross-platform games will also be optimized for Xbox Series X, taking advantage of powerful hardware to achieve ray-tracing and fast load times.

Future months of Xbox 20/20 will feature interviews with developers, updates from Xbox Game Studios, and game announcements. July is set to focus on first-party developers in-house at Microsoft, but no specifics around what we can expect in June. Perhaps a release date and price of the Xbox Series X? Here’s hoping!
