Destiny 2 new season begins today, new expansion announced

Destiny 2 fans get pumped! Bungie, the developers of the free-to-play first person shooter, made the surprising announcement that Destiny 2’s new season Seasons of Arrivals will be launched today. Included in this season will be Prophecy, a new dungeon that is available to all Destiny 2 players. Here you will be able to unravel its secrets, unlock new armour and earn new rewards.

Along with the new season, a new expansion has also been announced. Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be released on the 23rd of September this year. The events of the new season will lead straight into the Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion. As Bungie said in their press statement:

“For months, the mysterious Pyramid ships have been making their way to our solar system, their purpose unknown but their menace clear. In Season of Arrivals, the moon of Io will see the arrival of the first Pyramid ship, setting off a chain of events that will unfold throughout the Season, into the Beyond Light expansion, and beyond.”

 

The Beyond Light expansion sees player being called to Jupiter’s frozen moon of Europa. Here they will have to brace the icy environment, invade the Golden Age Braytech facility where they will uncover lies and secrets that lay underneath the ancient ice. Players will also have access to a new power, Stasis and a new six person raid that offers “glorious rewards.”

Destiny 2: Beyond Light can be pre-ordered now via Steam, Stadia and Xbox One. The PlayStation store will offer pre-orders soon. Bungie has also announced that the expansion will be backwards compatible on the Xbox Series X. It will offer PlayStation 4 users the upgrade on PlayStation 5 for free.

Destiny 2 Seasons of Arrivals is now free to play on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be released on PS4, PC and Xbox One on September 23, 2020.
