Warhammer 40,000: Darktide announced for 2021

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has warped in as part of the Xbox game Showcase.

A 4 player Co-Op shooter from Fatshark, Darktide will see four members of the Imperial Inquisition fight their way through the hive city of Tertium. The threats you’ll face will be myriad including what looks to be a Genestealer Cult. And where there’s Genestealers, there’s Tyranids not far behind. The game is scheduled for a 2021 release date and will be available on the Xbox Game Pass at launch.

“Everyone in the studio is absolutely enthralled with the Warhammer universes created by Games Workshop.” says the official blog post. “Many of the founding members of the studio met through playing tabletop Warhammer games, and from those experiences and the love for the franchises the concept of Vermintide and, in turn, the upcoming Darktide, was born. Anyone who knows Warhammer Fantasy can tell you how well we captured that world in Vermintide, so you can expect even more love and uncompromising levels of detail to be poured into our slice of the Warhammer 40k universe with Darktide.”

Fatshark’s no stranger to the Warhammer franchise, with the fantastic Vermintide series already under their belt. We called Vermintide 2 “frantic fun” in our review. Fingers crossed this game follows suit with the same kind of addictive action when it launches next year.
