Riders Republic is an extreme sports MMO with attitude

Posted on September 11, 2020

Ubisoft Forward this morning was not without surprises. Riders Republic, an online extreme sports game from the creators of Steep, will be launching early next year.

“From arid canyons to snowy mountains, Riders Republic allows players to ride through some of the most magnificent destinations on earth. The American National Parks, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite Valley, Sequoia Park, Zion, Canyonlands, Mammoth Mountain and Grand Teton have been faithfully recreated and imaginatively mashed together to create the liveliest sports park.” Check out the trailer to see what it’s all about.

The developers at Ubisoft Annecy certainly have experience in this field, having worked on the underrated online extreme snow sports game Steep a few years back. While the DNA of Steep is certainly present, Riders Republic seems to have more of a focus on building a big online community, with a series of events designed to be played together.

Along with a Career Mode with progression-based gear and the ability to acquire top sponsors, multiplayer modes include Competitive Races and Trick Challenges playable in PvP and solo and Mass Starts, a frantic race with more than 50 players colliding, grinding and fighting their way to the finish line. This is on top of 6v6 Multiplayer Arenas and Online Cups for those who want to make it to the top of the leaderboard.

“We wanted to combine our love for extreme sports with an adrenaline-filled multiplayer experience, letting players share those unique riding moments with more than 50 other players at all times,” said Igor Manceau, Creative Director of Riders Republic at Ubisoft Annecy. “Riders Republic offers fun and light-hearted competition and allows us to push the boundaries with this genre. We can’t wait for riders to dive into this dynamic world and share their own epic stories.”
