Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was one of the notable absences from E3 2021 earlier in the week, but overnight we got a bit more of a taste via the Xbox Games Showcase Extended.
While no “gameplay footage” was shown in a traditional sense, it was great to see some of the behind the scenes footage from the development of the title, sequel to the extremely popular Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. We get to see some motion capture, animation and on-the-scene audio recording and more. Check it out.
Chief Creative Ninja Tameem Antoniades reiterated that “the team is hard at work on this ambitious sequel as they work to recreate 9th century Iceland, trying their hardest to bring a sense of authenticity to its land and costumes from that time.” He also noted that Ninja Theory “didn’t want to do a straight sequel — we wanted to do something extra special, and so we’re making our lives as difficult as possible in that pursuit.”
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was initially revealed as an Xbox console exclusive from Ninja Theory back at The Game Awards in December 2019. Needless to say, after the first game truly captivated everybody, we’re excited to see more from this project, and hope that it’s on track for a release sometime in 2022.
