Hitman Sniper: The Shadows blasts onto mobile later this year

Posted on June 14, 2021

Three months ago, the public was informed of Square Enix Montreal’s next mobile title, previously referred to as Hitman Sniper Assassins. Now, we have more word on just how that project is shaping up. This includes its new name, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows. It’s thanks to the debut at Square Enix’s E3 that we gained our first big proper look at the upcoming mobile title.

As already confirmed, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows will feature a wholly unique story to the Hitman universe. Agent 47, the iconic assassin with a tattooed barcode on the back of his head won’t be present. This is due to the fact that the skilled assassin has gone missing. Taking on the mantle now is an assassin group by the name of The Shadows. This team is made up of five different agents: Soji, Kiya, Kolzak, Knight, and Stone. Each come with their own skillset and making sniping away of targets different each time. Combine this with all of the team members having backstories and it’s only leaves room for the Hitman universe to grow. A new criminal network threatens “global stability” and it is up to The Shadows, along with the returning Diana Burnwood and the International Contract Agency (ICA) to take them down.

Hitman Sniper: The Shadows is an upcoming free-to-play mobile game for iOS and Android, slated for release later in 2021. It’s being developed by Square Enix Montreal, known for the GO puzzle series in Hitman GO, Lara Croft GO and Deus Ex GO. Stay tuned for more future updates throughout the year.
