Ubisoft kicked off their E3 presentation with a deep dive on their upcoming Rainbow Six Extraction. The formally named Rainbow Six Quarantine was announced back in 2019 but we now have a much better idea of what this game will entail and when it will release!
Extraction is a 1-3 player PvE cooperative experience that will see players take on an evolving alien threat. The world you explore is broken down into quarantine zones as aliens spread and adapt, taking over their environment. You play as a Rainbow Six Operator who will be taking samples from the aliens and eliminating them as they fight to survive.
Rainbow Six Extraction can somewhat be described as a Left 4 Dead-style game as players move from one zone to the next, taking down different tiers of aliens with special names and properties. The big difference here is that there’s a lot of tactical gameplay carried over from Rainbow Six Siege. It’ll be interesting to see if players adopt that slow tactical gameplay upon release, or if running and gunning becomes the preferred method of play.
Rainbow Six Siege players will no doubt see similarities between both games as mechanics and tools carry over from Siege into Extraction. The Siege community will also get exclusive unlocks for both games.
Rainbow Six Extraction is ready to launch 16 September 2021 across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with cross-play confirmed across all platforms.
