It’s 2021 and there’s news about an Avatar video game. Trust me, I’m as surprised as you are. Shown off as part of the Ubisoft Forward E3 event, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been officially revealed. Staying true to the aesthetic and world of the 2009 film, check out the visually vibrant trailer below:
In Ubisoft’s description of the game, they describe Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as a “first-person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft studio, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney”. From the look of the trailer, the game is filled to bursting point with exotic creatures, diverse and unique plant life, and a conflict with human invaders. I personally am very excited to face off against an attack chopper while riding an Ikran (the dragon-like creature).
To further quote Ubisoft, the game is, “Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open-world experience”.
In the game, players will play as a Na’vi and will experience a journey across Pandora into the unexplored Western Frontier (hence the name), exploring a living and breathing world filled with native wildlife and the destructive RDA forces that are threatening the Na’vi way of life.
After being delayed to coincide with an Avatar film release, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia and Amazon Luna.
