Since launching with just the pure white version, Sony have revealed new official console covers (or faceplates as us gamers call them!) for the PlayStation 5. After waiting over a year after the release of the PS5, gamers can finally switch out the colours on their console to add some personal flair. The PS5 cover colours are drawn from the Cosmic collection with Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple and Nova Pink available.
The designs look identical to unofficial non-branded ones that have been going around, but these ones however have the official PlayStation logo etched into them. The price of each PS5 cover will set you back $84.95 AUD – not bad for a cosmic glow-up.
If the faceplates weren’t enough, Sony have confirmed they will also release matching controllers in the same colour range. The controllers will all release in January 2022 for $119.95 AUD with the faceplates to follow in the first half of 2022.
Sony have confirmed on their website the instructions on how easy it should be to replace the console covers by simply unlocking and sliding the covers off and sliding the new ones on. Time will tell if it is as easy as this.
