Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie is dialling up the hype. Paramount has used the upcoming excitement for the 2022 Super Bowl, which kicks off in just a few days, to help drum up excitement for the sequel. Check out the trailer below:
The trailer shows off a few more action setpieces for the Blue Blurr, like a snowy mountaintop, which prompts a somewhat cringy quip about Marvel’s The Winter Soldier. More importantly, we see more than a little glimpse of Angel Island, Knuckles’ home, and the shrine that safeguards the master emerald. Since guarding the master emerald is Knuckles’ life’s work, it stands to reason that we’d see it at some point in the film. However, it’s good to see more confirmation that Paramount is focusing on real Sonic lore that hasn’t gotten a lot of love from the games in recent years.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hit theatres on April 8th. It was originally revealed as part of the 2021 Game Awards.
