The Steam Deck, Steam’s new handheld device, has now been released to a few lucky few (though not in Australia, sadly.) Coinciding with the release, Valve has announced a playable short set in the Portal universe made specially for the Steam Deck. It’ll be available on the PC too, but it’s clear that Valve really wants to encourage people to check the game out on their new console. The short is called Aperture Desk Job, and it’s a free download. Here’s the trailer below:
The Steam Store page displays some heavy sass, describing the game thusly:
“Aperture Desk Job reimagines the been-there-done-that genre of walking simulators and puts them in the lightning-spanked, endorphin-gorged world of sitting still behind things. You play as an entry-level nobody on their first day at work — your heart full of hope and your legs full of dreams, eager to climb that corporate ladder. But life’s got other plans, and they all involve chairs.”
We’re not sure yet how exactly that premise will lead to the giant explosion we see halfway into this teaser, but I’m sure I’ll make sense (Maybe). You can download Aperture Desk Job starting from March 1 (March 2 for us Aussies).
