Aussie gem Unpacking hits PlayStation platforms May 10

Posted on May 8, 2022

Developer Witch Beam has announced their award-winning game Unpacking would be coming to both PS4 and PS5 on May 10th. In a blog to the PlayStation website, a heartfelt message about the meaning behind the items found in the game can be seen, and shows just how personal this journey has been for the Brisbane-based studio.

Unpacking has been a huge success story ever since it was released late in 2021. The game allows players to peek into the life of its protagonist through one of the most unique storytelling devices seen in gaming. The mere act of unpacking and arranging clothing and personal items gives us an understanding of who this person is and the milestones they’re achieving as they grow older. It’s a beautiful and unique experience, with our review describing it as “a game about making a space your own, taking space up, and making space for others.” Unpacking also took home many an accolade, including Game of the Year at the Australian Game Developer Awards.

Unpacking’s release onto the PlayStation will mean that the game is now available across all major platforms, joining PC, Xbox and Switch. It’s a great opportunity to try out a phenomenal game if you haven’t yet already. Unpacking will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 as of May 10, 2022.
