A new legacy begins this October as Overwatch 2 releases with a new free-to-play format. The announcement was made during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase with new details revealed for the upcoming hero shooter. Building upon the original game, Overwatch 2 reshifts into a 5 v 5 shooter with updates to gameplay, visuals and more.

October 4, 2022 is the release date for Overwatch 2, launching as an early access release. Check out the new trailer below.

In addition to the release date and free-to-play news, we also got an opportunity to take a look at the game’s new hero, Junker Queen, who appears to have a Mad Max inspiration. This Australian hero is the queen of the Junkers, giving her ties to Junkrat. Her character design is intimidating, with a big axe, big shotgun, and large amounts of attitude.

Overwatch 2 will be launching as an early access release on October 4, 2022.
