Announced in a Steam blog, Aussie indie game Wayward Strand is being delayed almost 2 months from its July 21, 2022 release. Developer Ghost Pattern has said the reason for the delay is to improve the quality of the game and do so in a way that doesn’t cause great stress for the team.
“…we did our best to set realistic timelines. But as we review each scene in the game and how it all comes together, we felt it was important to spend some additional time to bring the experience closer to our vision. We’re doing our best to bring our characters and stories to life for you.”
Wayward Strand has been a hotly anticipated game amongst Aussie gaming circles, promising an intimate and heartfelt story set on an airship hospital. The game is deeply narrative focussed, boasting over 25,000 lines of dialogue, intertwining personal stories between the cast of 14 characters, and all of which made by a small, self-published team. The reason behind the delay is understandable and thankfully it won’t be too much longer to wait.
Also announced in the blog post was news that a cast reveal would be coming up later this month. So hold tight for that information as it drops. Wayward Strand will now be released on September 15, 2022, to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
