The community audio platform Discord is being rolled out on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles starting today. Beginning with those in the Xbox Insiders program, the integration will soon become available to all Xbox users, making cross-platform chat a whole lot easier.
The news was made via a web blog on the Xbox site that boasts a more connected and streamlined audio experience for Xbox users. Discord has become a staple for PC and mobile gamers, and with PlayStation getting Discord integration this year and now Xbox as well, it’s soon to be the unifying voice chat platform for gaming.
With more and more games adopting cross-play functionality, it makes sense for our voice chat systems to keep up. If you’ve ever had to play a game cross-platform with a buddy, you may already know the struggle of getting communication to flow naturally without it taking away from the gaming audio/experience. Interested Xbox Insiders can jump onto the Xbox website now to learn how to link their Discord and Xbox accounts. Those not within the Insiders program will have to wait, with Discord integration expected “in the coming weeks.”
