MultiVersus, Warner Bros’ free-for-all brawler that’s releasing as free-to-play later this month, has been confirmed to include the NBA superstar LaBron James in its roster. While Warner Bros have hardly been reserved with the range of characters they’ve chosen — which include the Iron Giant, Shaggy and Velma from Scooby-Doo, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, and Tom and Jerry, as well as various DC superheroes — James is perhaps the most unexpected pick yet. We can see a few of his slammin’ moves in the trailer that was shown at Comic Con this week:
James’ inclusion is perhaps due to the fact that he’s already been cartoonified in Space Jam: A New Legacy, which came out in theatres last year to…. middling reviews. But hey, if you’ve already got a character design for him, why not chuck him in MultiVersus?
It was also announced that Rick and Morty from their titular show would be included in the roster too, although we didn’t get to see any trailer footage of the two.
MultiVersus is releasing on 26th of July in Beta mode, and will be free to play on PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well as PC. LeBron James will be playable on launch, whereas Morty will be playable starting from the 9th of August. Rick’s release date is TBC.
