In a digital showcase over the weekend, THQ Nordic has revealed several of the games that they’ll be publishing over the next year or two. Some were games we already knew about, like Destroy All Humans 2 – Reprobed and Knights of Honour 2: Sovereign, but we all got a big surprise when they revealed an announcement trailer for a reimagining of the 1992 survival horror game Alone in the Dark.
This new Alone in the Dark brings us back to New Orleans in the 1920s, which is a classic horror setting and near to where the original game took place. Players will control either Edward Carby or Emily Hartwood, both characters you may remember from the original series, as they explore a creepy manor and defeat the evil lurking within. Beyond those details, this new Alone in the Dark is shrouded in mystery. The game is being developed by Pieces Interactive and is being written by Mikael Hedberg, the writer of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMA.
THQ Nordic’s presentation covered many more games, including a remake of the 2001 action RPG Gothic and Tempest Rising. Another big surprise came right at the end though, when a teaser image for South Park made an appearance at the end. No information was revealed about the announcement, however, it did confirm that it was a game in development. This is surely welcome news to fans of the cartoon, as the last South Park game was released 5 years ago by Ubisoft. Time will tell if it will follow Ubisoft’s example in terms of gameplay, or whether or not we’ll see a different genre for the residents of South Park.
