Elden Ring board game announced by Steamforged Games

Posted on September 17, 2022

Steamforged Games recently announced a Kickstarter campaign for Elden Ring: The Board Game. Elden Ring was released in February 2022 to great acclaim, improving upon the Souls-like gameplay with an open world and the freedom of choice. The Kickstarter campaign itself isn’t live yet and there isn’t much information about the game, but that will change as the campaign becomes live and the launch date is revealed.

Steamforged Games is known for creating faithful video game adaptations and turning them into amazing tabletop experiences. They have previously worked on the Dark Souls board game, along with Resident Evil and Horizon Zero Dawn.

The board game can be played with 1-4 players, and will have Tarnished players journey across the Lands Between, visiting memorable locations and fighting powerful enemies. Combat will be dice-free, and will require players to strategise and adapt to their enemies. Boss fights have been planned alongside regular enemy encounters, though only the Grafted King has been confirmed in the announcement.

The Dark Souls board game has mechanics around learning from your deaths, upgrading your equipment, and enhancing your own stats. Elden Ring’s gameplay is similar to that, and these mechanics may also make an appearance in the board game version.

You can sign up for notifications on the Kickstarter campaign page, and more information will be revealed once the campaign goes live.
