It’s been announced this morning that Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) is back in person this year from 1 to 9 October 2022. This will be the eighth year of MIGW, the biggest games event in Asia-Pacific, connecting games, technology and culture.
There is a huge week of events happening as part of MIGW, with a program featuring local and international talent, inviting industry, educators and game enthusiasts from across the globe. Of course PAX Aus 2022 is happening that same week, from October 7-9, but that’s certainly not the only event to be excited about.

High Score: Composition and Sound Art for Games from 1 to 2 October

Game Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) from 3 to 5 October

Games for Change Asia Pacific Festival (G4C) from 4 to 6 October

Freeplay Parallels – the Indie Game Showcase on 6 October

Australian Game Developer Awards (AGDAs) to be held at iconic music venue The Forum on 5 October

Girls in Games Jam hosted by Amazon Web Service (AWS) in collaboration with Creative Victoria and hosted on Game Jolt
“We’re backing Victoria’s games industry and creating more jobs in the sector while also supporting the businesses that produce some of the world’s most innovative games.” said Victorian Minister for Creative Industries Steve Dimopoulos. “With more than half of the country’s games studios and workforce based here, Melbourne International Games Week further supports Victoria’s cutting edge digital industry and attracts games leaders from across the globe.”
